The new version is certainly more accessible. The new version is probably better than the emulated version for most people. If you tweak your Xbox 360 settings to play the emulated Xbox version properly (force true 480p output for best upscaling on your TV), it may be better than the new version overall. To sum up, if you go to the trouble of properly experiencing the Xbox version on an original Xbox, it's better than the new version. It doesn't look great, and I think most people will agree that the new Xbox 360 version looks better overall, despite its "mobile" and "port of a port" problems. You can get the native 480p and proper contrast out of it but you have to mess with both your console and TV settings - if your TV doesn't have a "PC mode" then you might not be able to do it, in which case the Xbox emulator upscales rather crudely to the console's resolution setting, adding brightness and reducing contrast. The original Xbox version, played on an Xbox 360 in emulation, loses the custom radio station and can look worse than it does on an Xbox depending on video settings. It's a polished release finished by Rockstar North, not some later porting contractor. The Xbox has analog triggers for vehicle acceleration like GTA IV-V, and the custom radio station feature that's otherwise only in the PC version. The original Xbox could output 480p which upscales on an HDTV much better than 480i from the PS2. The original Xbox version, played on an original Xbox, is the most complete console version since it's not missing any soundtrack or visual detail. They'll probably forge their own opinion. Trust me though, "Playing Xbox original version for 3 years" is just a footnote to the amount of hours some people on this forum have played. It's the best looking San Andreas to date apparently, barr the PC version with mods. They never claimed it's the best thing since sliced bread. All they've done is improve lighting, improve AA, improve Draw Distance. You'll maybe find this "remake" beautiful if you never played anything else than the PS2 version, otherwise you'll clearly understand that the words "remake" and "HD" sound like joke. Sometime, the game looks more cartoonish than a real cartoon.Īs for the draw distance. It looks really odd and unnatural (especially the colors). It's exactly like playing GTA IV on console, with the contrast setting pushed to the max. In fact, except the new car reflections that are cool, and a few improved textures, the game look weaker than the original. After playing the Xbox Origin version for 3 years, I can tell you something guys : this "HD" remake does not feature any worthwhile graphical improvement.
